After years of seeing the west and the east take advantage of solar power, southern states like Arkansas are making an investment in the sun.
In the first month of the fiscal year, Arkansas state revenue shows signs of growth. The Bentonville-Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce is supporting the millage proposal to be decided by voters next month. The Illinois River Watershed Partnership gets more than $1 million in grant funding for green infrastructure. And a former Razorback wins the British Open.

Ahead on Ozarks, four legislators from northwest Arkansas discuss the fiscal session that begins today in Little Rock. They’ll examine the chances the private option is or isn’t funded by the time lawmakers adjourn. We’ll also get a small preview of some of the musicians heading to Fayetteville this summer for the fifth edition of the Fayetteville Roots Festival.
If you've been out and about and you've noticed a group of ladies wearing bright red and purple hats, good. They wanted to be noticed. They're most likely members of the Red Hat Society. This Thursday, the group will celebrate the day 15 years ago when five women got together just to have fun. The group has since then morphed into an international organization.

Governor Mike Beebe says that a package of tax cuts approved yesterday by the Arkansas Senate is acceptable, though he worries about the cuts' impact in the years to come after he leaves office. A proposed constitutional amendment that would move ethics reform forward in the state moves closer to the ballot after receiving final approval by the legislature. Plans for the Sebastian County aquatics park move forward, and a group at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville plans to take back the night with an annual event aimed at raising awareness about sexual violence.
