Horizontal slickwater natural gas drilling flowback fluids not reused or recycled are pressure injected into the earth. Several such wells were shuttered last year in Faulkner County, linked to seismic activity. Industry is now looking toward Johnson County--pocked with empty underground gas reservoirs--to safely contain frack waste. To end our summer series on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in Arkansas we examine a little known aspect of the health reform law that will greatly expand opportunities for thousands of Arkansans requiring long term health care to receive help, not in an institution, but at home.
